To work as a Senior Member of the Community Safety Department developing, implementing and overseeing the delivery of services relating to anti-social behaviour and crime within Borough.

The Crime and Communities Service delivers a victim focussed response to reported issues of crime and anti-social behaviour. Utilising restorative practice and early interventions to support victims, encourage behavioural change, prevent re-victimisation and to work with alleged offenders to divert them away from offending. Responses will be proactive and in addition to supporting the objectives of Knowsley Council will support the activities of the Community Safety Partnership within Knowsley.

This post will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a range of staff whose role is to identify and address issues relating to anti-social behaviour, from prevention to pursuit, as well as to work alongside a range of partners within the Knowsley Community Safety Partnership. This post will require excellent multi-agency working and up to date knowledge of services, programmes and strategies across the Knowsley, Merseyside, and National Best Practice.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and implementing the Council’s strategic and operational response to serious and organised crime, anti-social behaviour, and other criminogenic priorities for the Borough, as identified by the Community Safety Partnership’s annual strategic threat assessment.

The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the development/review of processes, policies and strategies as required.

The post holder will further be responsible for engaging with partner agencies to investigate and deliver cooperative opportunities.

The post holder will be required to provide regular reports to the Head of Community Safety and promote the strategic objectives of the service.

Essential - 

  • Minimum of 5 years, recent, experience of working within the criminal justice and/or supporting people area.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a team of people.
  • Experience of case management including undertaking assessments, identifying need, and developing multi-agency action plans in partnership with individuals, communities, and partner agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key policy drivers, legislation, and best practice in relation to serious and organised crime, anti-social behaviour, community safety partnerships and other emerging issues.
  • Recent experiencing of working at a Senior Level within a multi-agency team, including reporting, monitoring and evaluation and evidence of managing change within the workplace.
  • Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding the welfare and safety of adults, children, and young people.
  • Experience of convening and co-ordinating multi-agency meetings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good time management.
  • Experience of developing strategies, process and policy documentation.
  • Demonstrable experience of early help and its links to criminal justice/prevention.
