Family First is a family support service working with families who have multiple/complex needs.

The core offer of the service is the co-ordination and delivery of multi-agency interventions, based on whole family assessment and action planning to helping families achieve positive outcomes for themselves while reducing the likelihood of escalation to  high cost, statutory, crisis intervention services such as Children’s Social Care.

Families engaging with the service can expect a wide range of support either delivered directly by Family First Case Managers, support workers or through co-ordinated partnership.

  • Multi-agency working based upon a lead professional role to co-ordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) approaches in supporting families with complex, interacting  social and emotional needs (level 3 on KMBC thresholds)

This is a growing team, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Lead to support the leadership team in developing our services.  Development areas are in relation to direct interventions with children and families in relation to the range of issues named above.  The initial focus will be on strengthening our SEND offer for children with disabilities.   

This is an innovative and exciting opportunity where we are seeking a Senior Lead who can develop creative and empowering strategies to engage families via various methods.

An opportunity has arisen to temporarily appoint a 0-18 Family First Senior Practice Lead . The successful candidate will deputise for the Team Manager of one of the Family First teams.

The Senior Practice Lead will offer supervision of staff members, management oversight and support along with ensuring that quality of practice is a good standard. This role will require good partnership working.   

The successful applicant will need to have a minimum of 3 years recent experience of working with young people, families and have knowledge of current legislation and regulations.

The successful applicant will need to be

  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form,
  • Understanding of SEND needs for children with disabilities,
  • Experienced and have abilities in respect of working in partnership with children, adolescents and their families and partner agencies and a willingness to share appropriate information to safeguard children and adults.
  • Experienced in managing safeguarding concerns and following relevant legislation and protocols,
  • Able to work individually and as part of a multi-agency team,
  • Experience of supporting staff members,
  • Demonstrate comprehensive and up to date knowledge and understanding of statutory frameworks and local and national policy and guidance relating to safeguarding and Early Help.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and working with tight deadlines.

An enhanced DBS and possible police vetting will be required for this post.
